Our Sacred Light Is Not For Sale

our sacred light
is not for sale
nothing is more precious
than our joy
our love
our sense of welcoming possibility

how could it ever truly
be bought
or honestly be sold?

and yet too willingly
we barter
in the marketplace
for what
we think
survival must require

accepting judgment and constraint
in exchange for something
branded love or safety
the satisfaction of a need

beware my beloveds
o please beware
there is no truth in labeling
in the bustling
bazaar of life

we must taste and smell
and ask a thousand questions
we must stop and sense
and notice our sweet body’s
own response
to what is held before us

do our hearts open with delight?
does this offering fulfill us?
or do we sink with the weight
of a thousand stones upon our soul?

nothing in us
or about us is for sale
but in some sunlit corner we may exchange
love for love
where there is no seller and no sold
only an amplification
of the light
